Watched The Hobbit: Battle of The Five Armies

Well, I've back to Indonesia since the 14th now.

As you can see from the title above, I've actually watched The Hobbit. They just released it in Indonesia yesterday, but I've watched the London one on the 12th, the day before my flight.
So, what was my thought on it? Personally I like the tension, and the fighting stuff. Tauriel's role, Fili's lack of dialogue and the CGI (especially the CGI) bothered me though. Tauriel is the cool badass female elf with the cool fighting moves, but they had to make her as Kili's love interest. I don't mind making her as the love interest of someone, but at least keep her like the cool lady she is and not make her look like a damsel in distress with her cheesy dialogue to Thranduil...

And then there's Fili, Thorin's heir and his oldest nephew, hidden behind the limelight of Kili because he's not the dwarf in love with an elf. Fill is handsome, of course he is, but everyone adores Kili perhaps of the lack of beard? Kili's adorable, sure, but with him being in love and so serious in trying to get Tauriel's attention kind of... puts me off personally. When Kili yells at Thorin about not wanting to let people fight their fights for them and then Thorin fondly touched his forehead with Kili's... WHERE IS FILI IN THIS SCENE?! Fili's lack of presence just makes me feels sad, especially because of his fate under the foul orc's hand.

Tauriel, the badass she-elf, who turns out to be the desperate girl when Kili dies. I kind of get it that she'll be desperate, her dialogue with Thranduil at the end though... that is not what I expected. "Because it is real" Lee Pace, your face makes me want to laugh so hard when you said that line. Kili is still a young dwarf, falling in love so seriously like that kinds of... dunno.

Now, CGI. You cannot possibly imagine how this distracts me in this film. For your information, I have never watched the two previous films on the big screen and I tend to fast forward on my laptop. I was just sitting, tension high on my shoulder, waiting for the war to end, and then the CGI had to distract me of all things. There were some scenes in there where you can CLEARLY see the moment they're using Green Screen to shoot. The characters outlines were blurry and visibly edited into the background, some of the special effects (rams/goats) did not combine well with the background making it look un-seamless.

Oh, just a few opinions from my friends who watched this with me. Frankly, they were disappointed by this third and last movie because the fighting scene is just too long and the focus shifted away from Bilbo. They said the book is supposed to be about Bilbo going on an adventure and then Bilbo going home. Bilbo is the narrator, and it was supposed to be "There and Back Again" not "The Battle of Five Armies". I was torn, I like the fighting scenes, but they made sense.

Favourite scene: Bilbo and Thorin's smiles at each other when Bilbo showed the Dwarf King the acorn from Beorn's house. That is pure perfect romantic/bromance moment right there.

Rate: 7.5/10 (although tissue-worthy, still a bit rough here and there)
P.S.: GALADRIEL IS THE COOLEST. CATE BLANCHETT ROCKS! MARTIN FREEMAN IS BOSS!
